Objectivism Is The Everyman's Philosophy
In the universe, what you see is what you get,
figuring it out for yourself is the way to happiness,
and each person's independence is respected by all

Rand's Philosophy in Her Own Words
- "Metaphysics: Objective Reality" "Nature, to be commanded, must be obeyed/Wishing won’t make it so." "The universe exists independent of consciousness"
- "Epistemology: Reason" "You can’t eat your cake and have it, too." "Thinking is man’s only basic virtue"
- "Ethics: Self-interest" "Man is an end in himself." "Man must act for his own rational self-interest" "The purpose of morality is to teach you[...] to enjoy yourself and live"
- "Politics: Capitalism" "Give me liberty or give me death." "If life on earth is [a man's] purpose, he has a right to live as a rational being"

Necessity and Form in Truths
By Boydstun,
Necessity and Form in Truths
In this study, I firstly examine the Objectivist account of how Rand’s theory of concepts dissolves the customary distinction of truths into ones true in virtue of meaning and ones true in virtue of experience. Although that particular character of concepts in Rand’s mold of them does dissolve that wrong divide of truths—the analytic-synthetic divide—I advance an additional character of her theory, one more peculiar to hers, that also dissolves the A-S division,
Selfish Christians Citing Ayn Rand
By monart,
Christians are many, Objectivists are few. But a very few Christians are friendly to Ayn Rand, studying and citing her work, along with Peikoff's. Are they the better or the worse Christians? Are they to be scoffed away as deluded walking contradictions and exploitive hypocrites, or be regarded with some serious respect and be shown how to go all the way?
Selfish Christians Citing Ayn Rand
Apparently, not all Christians are altruistic. There are the very few who advocate rationa
KANT’S WRESTLE WITH 'HAPPINESS' AND 'LIFE'
By Boydstun,
KANT’S WRESTLE WITH HAPPINESS AND LIFE
I composed this study in 2009. It has been online at the OBJECTIVIST LIVING forum since then. It would be good to have it right here. (I began online posting in Objectivism-interested forums in 2005. That was at the site REBIRTH OF REASON. In a while, I found that I could compose serious extended philosophical writings on such forums, which was not the usual fare, and no one would object. Later the posting site OL came on the scene, and it showed the n
Question about the value of life from another forum
By SocratesJr,
I ran across the following question in a discussion I was having somewhere else: Why is life a value in an atheist universe?
I don't have an answer. Do any of you?

Hi,
I can't login into my account anymore.
Before that happened, I tried, in my profile, to redefine my email address (to the same as before, in fact). Now, when trying to log in, I get a message that I didn't yet confirmed my new email address by clicking a link in the confirmation mail I had to get from the Objectivism Online Forum. But I
Objective Reality and Objective Living
By monart,
OBJECTIVE REALITY AND OBJECTIVE LIVING
[Here are some highlights, from the perspective of self-realization and self-betterment, of the meaning of the concept of Reality or Existence: the widest, most abstract and fundamental of all concepts, subsuming and integrating all other concepts – yet, at the same time, it’s the most simple, concrete, directly observable concept, seen in each and every thing that’s real and exists. Reality exists all arou
How To Be Happy
By KyaryPamyu,
Schopenhauer was a big influence on Nietzsche, and Rand liked Nietzsche more than just a little. "His 'Thus Spake Zarathustra' is my Bible. I can never commit suicide while I have it.", wrote Rand, answering a questionnaire, circa 1935[1]. By way of spiritual lineage, could it be that some of Schopenhauer's ethos inadvertently found its way into Objectivism? Well, probably not, but I'm getting paranoid! It's time for a trip down philosophical hall of fame.
Like many philosophers of his era
Reblogged:Three Notebooks and a Passing
By Gus Van Horn blog,
A Friday Hodgepodge 1. Our first notebook comes from Nat Bennett, from whom I got the following quote, which is today's Quote of the Day in my planner:At the link above, he describes how he goes about acquiring such a desirable reputation in a post called, "Why You Need a WTF Notebook." The notebook of which he speaks helps him keep track of problems he notices upon joining a team, which he simply collects as he becomes acclimated and better able to figure out which ones are addressable and wo
Does free will exist, or are our choices predetermined by prior causes?
By SocratesJr,
What is Ayn Rand's proof that free will exists? Or any other Objectivist's proof? To say "Ayn Rand defined it" is not an answer, since it is possible to define things that don't exist such as "Martian": extraterrestrial beings originating from the planet Mars.
